Welcome to the PYC Women’s Sailing web page.  We’re all about enjoying time with friends; both on the water and off.  We welcome beginners through competent sailors, as there are opportunities for all!

WOMEN'S CRUISING
SKIPPERS OF THE CLUB’S CRUISING BOATS TAKE MEMBERS OUT FOR AN AFTERNOON OR EVENING SAIL. THE TRIPS ARE DETERMINED BY THE WINDS AND THE TIDES. PARTICIPANTS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HELP WITH THE LINES AND TAKE THE HELM, OR JUST RELAX AND ENJOY THE SUMMER BREEZE. THERE IS A ONE-TIME FEE OF $15 TO HELP PAY FOR THE SKIPPERS LUNCHES.

CRUISING DATES: WE PLAN TO GO OUT ON TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS
TuesDAYS AFTER LUNCH: 6/4, 6/25, 7/16, 8/6, 8/27, 9/17
Thursday AFTERNOONS: 6/20, 8/1, 8/22, 9/12
STARTING IN JUNE WE WILL DO AN OCCASIONAL WED. EVENING TO WATCH THE RACING;
6/12, 7/3, 7/24, 8/14, 9/4

ON TUESDAYS, JOIN YOUR SKIPPER FOR LUNCH AT NOON, SET SAIL AT 1:00 UNTIL 3:00. ON WEDNESDAYS MEET ON THE gas dock at 5:30, RETURN BY 8 for dinner. ON THURSDAYS, MEET ON THE PORCH AT 4, RETURN BY 6:00PM.

Inter Club Supper Series 2019

These events are held on five Monday evenings, rotated among PYC, Black Rock, Norwalk, Noroton and indian harbor.  The purpose of the evening is to get members to participate in some social sailing with women from the other clubs.  The host club provides a light supper, with the traveling clubs bringing wine to share.

Kayaking/Paddle boarding

This can be a great way to meet members and explore the harbor and surrounding shoreline.   Kayakers will meet Saturday mornings at 9am down by the Jr. dock to launch the boats and set off.  The club currently owns two boats for members to use.

Remember to wear your PFD and take a radio with you.

women's seamanship 2019
to teach women basic skills on a big boat.  Subjects will include sail trim, knots, mooring, anchoring, safety and much, much more! 
preference will be given to members who sign up for all 4 classes. Classes will be held at 6pm.

Monday evening racing On ideals  2019
july 1, 7/8, 7/15, 7/22. women will get together for casual and "lightly competitive" racing. We will pair up experienced racers as skippers (must be an I-18 registered program member to skipper) with crews looking for more practice and skills.  This will be followed by wine and a light potluck picnic on the porch. You do not need to be a One-Design member to crew in this program. Contact: bETSY HULME


Wine and Cheese 2019

These events were very popular last year.  They are designed as a “drop in” event where members/guests are asked to bring either a drink or an hors d’oeurve to share.  Dress is casual, so either coming directly from work or just off the boat, don’t miss the fun.

WOW (WOMEN ON THE WATER) 
WOMEN ON THE WATER (WOW) OF LONG ISLAND SOUND IS AN ENTHUSIASTIC GROUP OF OVER 150 WOMEN FROM 11 AREA YACHT CLUBS WHO LOVE TO SAIL, RACE, LEARN AND SOCIALIZE.
WOW AFFILIATED CLUBS SPONSOR AND PROMOTE SAILING EDUCATION, SOCIAL EVENTS AND REGATTAS IN WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY AND FAIRFIELD COUNTY, CT. WHILE CLUB ACTIVITIES ARE DESIGNED PRIMARILY FOR INTERMEDIATE OR ADVANCED SAILORS, WOW MEMBERS ENCOURAGE OUR "HOME" CLUBS TO FURTHER DEVELOP WOMEN SAILORS BY OFFERING A FULL SLATE OF PROGRAMS FOR ALL LEVELS, INCLUDING BEGINNERS.
THROUGH MEMBERSHIP IN WOW, WOMEN HAVE MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPAND THEIR SAILING EXPERIENCES, DEVELOP THEIR SKILLS AND FIND CREWS FOR LOCAL REGATTAS.
