Forecast says it is going to blow and there will be extreme high water Monday. Minimum suggested Storm Precautions for Vessels on PYC club facilities.

Minimum suggested Storm Precautions for Vessels on PYC club facilities 2012

Plan for storm preparation early-Please pay attention to the weather forecast. Launch Service may not be available during peak of storm.

Bring your own help- The Club staff will be very busy as they attempt to prepare the club and club facilities

Sail boats: Secure the boom with an independent line.

Reduce windage by removing dodger, Cockpit cover, sails and any other objects in the rigging or on the rails. At the very minimum, lash your sail cover along the entire length of your boom. Tie your jib cover as high up as possible. Remove your dinghy from your fore deck or davits. Remove and stow all flags, burgees, bird deterrents.

Remove and stow your bow rail or foredeck mounted plow anchor to avoid chafe.If any possibility of contact to bow line exists

Let out some additional scope on your bow and stern pendants to allow for higher tides (boats on Mooring)

Inspect your vessel's chocks,hawser or fair leads for any obstruction or wear point that may lead to failure. Install additional chafe gear or dock line as needed.

Secure loose items below decks that may cause damage or interfere with bilge pump operation.

Lash or lock steering wheel or tiller.

Tie redundant dock lines with appropriate chafe gear

Secure or remove any small vessels,kayaks, inflatable boats, dinghies you have at the club. Even better, take them home.

Add additional fenders and extend a line from the bottom of the fender, under the keel to the opposite side of the boat to keep fenders from riding up onto the dock.

Power and water to the slips will be turned off during storm for safety.
