Pequot Yacht Club, in Southport, CT, was established in 1920 to encourage interest in sailing. Since that time, members have been active cruisers and racers in the sport at the regional, national and international levels.
     Today, the Club supports an active Junior program, a large cruising fleet, Ideal 18s, and a Dyer Dhow frostbite contingent. The innovative Ideal 18 program, which provides Club-owned boats for members' use, was nationally recognized in 1993 when US Sailing named Pequot the One-Design Yacht Club of the Year.
     Over the years, Pequot Yacht Club has remained an organization devoted simply to boats and to the things that can be done with them.
